How to know if chest pain is heart related?

My uncle had a heart attack last year, and now I sometimes get a pain in my chest. It's usually after a stressful day. How to know if chest pain is actually heart related or just indigestion?

This is such an important question! I've also wondered about this. From what I've read, heart-related chest pain usually feels like a pressure or tightness, sometimes spreading to your arm, jaw, or back. And it can come with shortness of breath or sweating. Very scary if it happens!

Hey! My friend recently had a scare. Her doctor said heart pain often feels like a squeezing or heavy sensation in the center of your chest, not usually sharp or localized. And it can travel to your arm or jaw. If it comes with sweating or feeling faint, definitely get it checked out ASAP, don't wait.

Time is of the essence with chest pain. If it's a sudden, crushing pain, accompanied by shortness of breath, nausea, or sweating, drop everything and go to the ER. Don't google symptoms, don't wait for it to pass. Immediate medical attention is the only sensible step.

I totally get why you're asking this, it's so scary when you feel chest pain. The anxiety itself can make it worse. But listen to your body; if it's severe, sudden, or accompanied by other worrying symptoms, please reach out for medical help. No question is silly when it comes to your heart.

Any chest pain should be taken seriously and checked by a doctor IMMEDIATELY. Don't try to guess. I had a relative who brushed it off as acidity, and it turned out to be a heart attack. If you feel pressure, tightness, or pain spreading, especially with breathlessness, please go to the ER. Better safe than sorry.

Look, if there's any doubt about chest pain, don't take a chance. It's better to get it checked out by a doctor or even go to the emergency room. Heart-related pain can feel like crushing pressure, and it often comes with other signs like sweating or feeling faint. Don't worry, but do be responsible.

Oh god, I get chest pain sometimes and I always freak out thinking it's my heart. Does anyone else feel like it's a sharp, stabbing pain but then it goes away? Or is heart pain always dull pressure? It's so confusing and scary.

Ho na, this is very confusing sometimes. Heart pain is often like a squeezing or heavy feeling in the center of your chest, and it might go to your left arm or jaw. And you might feel breathless too. Don't ignore it at all, go see the doctor quickly.

My child had some non-cardiac chest pain once, and even then, the doctor took it very seriously. For adults, if it feels like crushing, heavy pressure, especially if it radiates or you feel dizzy/sick, don't think twice. Go to the nearest hospital. That's the only practical advice.
