How to increase stomach acidity?

I often have indigestion and feel like food sits in my stomach for too long. My doctor suggested I might have low stomach acidity. Is there a safe way to try and increase it?

Haan, if digestion is very slow, sometimes people need to improve stomach acid naturally. Try drinking thoda lemon water or apple cider vinegar in water before meals, na. It really helps trigger the digestive juices.

My low stomach acid was actually linked to my underactive thyroid, which slowed down my whole digestion. Please get a full blood and thyroid panel done. Treating the root cause under a doctor's care is the safest way.

Stomach burning or poor digestion can sometimes be a sign of infection like H. pylori rather than just low acid. Please do not self-treat with vinegar or acids. Go to a qualified doctor to get it tested safely.

Please don't try to self-diagnose low stomach acid on your own. I once ignored my persistent bloating and tried home remedies, which only made my stomach lining worse. Go to a gastroenterologist and get a proper diagnosis first.

Are you guys also facing constant bloating and feeling like food is just sitting in your stomach forever? I am scared to try apple cider vinegar because of my sensitive throat. Did anyone actually benefit from it?

As someone managing diabetes, I have to be very careful with what I drink on an empty stomach. If you are trying remedies like apple cider vinegar, make sure it doesn't affect your medication or blood sugar. Always discuss with your doctor first.

Proper digestion needs physical activity to function well. If your doctor clears you, try a light 15-minute walk after your meals instead of sitting or lying down immediately. It stimulates the gut naturally.

Eating ginger slices with a bit of black salt before food really helped my digestion get active! 😊 Just make sure you aren't overdoing it, and keep your meals simple and regular.
