How to improve teenage mental health?

My 15-year-old son has been very moody and withdrawn lately, and he seems stressed with school and social pressures. As a parent, I'm worried about his mental health. What can I do to help improve teenage mental health?

Instead of jumping into expensive private therapy straight away, check out community centers or government hospital counselors first. Setting up a structured daily routine at home also costs nothing and helps bring stability.

I can only speak from my own teen years, but having a hobby outside of school and screens was a lifesaver. Joining a local football club helped me clear my head and destress.

Hormonal issues during teen years can really wreck emotional health, which I experienced firsthand. Gentle lifestyle support is key, but don't hesitate to consult a therapist if their mood remains low.

Do other parents also feel like their teens are completely shutting them out? I worry so much about their mood swings and don't know how to reach out without making things worse.

I remember how terrifying it was to feel constantly anxious as a teenager and not understand why. First, validate their feelings and let them know they are not alone or 'crazy' for feeling this way.

Honestly, just having my parents not ask about my grades every single day would help. Give us some space to breathe and talk about normal things.

Maybe if they sleep for more than 4 hours a night instead of scrolling on social media, half their mood swings would vanish. Good sleep is literally the easiest mood booster.

Encouraging teenagers to practice basic, simple pranayama like Anulom Vilom for ten minutes daily can help calm their nervous systems. This gentle practice helps build resilience against academic stress.

Teens actually face crazy academic and social pressure nowadays, yaar. Just listening to them without immediately lecturing or giving advice helps them open up so much more.
