How to improve speech after a stroke?

My father had a stroke a few months ago, and his speech has become very slurred. We are doing therapy, but I was wondering if there are any other exercises or tips to help him improve his speech after a stroke?

Consistent therapy actually makes a massive difference, yaar. My uncle had a stroke last year, and going to a speech therapist twice a week helped him regain his speech steadily.

During recovery, my grandfather loved practicing his speech by naming his favorite dishes like chole bhature and gulab jamun. It made the dry practice sessions much more cheerful for him.

Please have patience and give them time to speak without interrupting. Daily practice and support from family will help them recover slowly.

You need to book a professional speech-language pathologist immediately. Home exercises are good, but targeted clinical therapy is essential for rebuilding neural pathways.

If the doctor permits, light physical activity like short walks helps improve overall blood circulation, which supports brain health and recovery. Combine this with regular speech exercises.

Along with medical speech therapy, reading holy books or simple stories aloud for fifteen minutes daily can help. Please ensure they do not strain themselves too much during these sessions.

Instead of expensive therapy tools, we just used basic school textbooks to practice pronunciation. Singing simple familiar songs together also helped my mother regain her speech rhythm.

While doing speech therapy, please ensure their blood pressure is strictly monitored and kept under control. Preventing another stroke is just as crucial as managing the current recovery.

Recovery is slow but possible; we used flashcards with simple words to help my father practice. Celebrate even small victories like pronouncing single words correctly to keep their spirits high.

We scheduled 15-minute speech app sessions during the day which fit easily into our busy routines. Short, frequent daily practices are much more effective than one long, exhausting session.

Don't let them feel discouraged or isolated when they can't speak clearly. Create a calm, stress-free environment at home so they can practice at their own comfortable pace.

I totally get it, seeing a loved one struggle to express themselves is incredibly heartbreaking. Please stay strong and keep encouraging them, as your support is their biggest strength.
