How to improve freestyle stroke?

I'm trying to improve my swimming technique, especially my freestyle stroke. My coach told me to focus on my rotation, but I'm not sure how to do it effectively. What are some drills or tips to improve my freestyle stroke?

Swimming takes a lot of energy, so make sure you are eating clean fuel. I find that having a banana or some soaked almonds 30 minutes before entering the pool gives me the stamina to keep my stroke form clean. Avoid swimming on a very heavy stomach.

Agreed with others. Focus on your high-elbow recovery and keep your head low while breathing to avoid sinking your hips.

Swimming is excellent for managing blood sugar levels, but a proper stroke technique prevents shoulder injury. Make sure you don't over-rotate your neck when breathing, as it ruins your balance. Keep your core tight to stay flat on the water.

Improving your stroke is mostly about body alignment and bilateral breathing. However, if you experience any sharp shoulder or neck pain while trying new drills, please consult an orthopedic specialist or sports physiotherapist to avoid rotator cuff injuries.

I am also trying to fix my freestyle! I keep sinking my legs while swimming. I read online that doing kickboard drills and focusing on looking at the bottom of the pool instead of forward helps raise the hips. Anyone tried that?
