How to improve employee mental health?

As an HR manager, I'm noticing a lot of stress among our employees, especially with WFH. We want to create a more supportive environment. What are some effective ways to improve employee mental health in the workplace?

Honestly, the best mental health booster is to stop scheduling 'urgent' meetings at 5:30 PM on a Friday. No amount of free green tea or colorful bean bags in the office can fix the stress of constant overwork. Just give us our weekends back and we will be perfectly fine!

I totally get it, corporate stress can really drain you completely before you even realize it. It feels lonely when you are burnt out but have to keep smiling in meetings. Companies should provide anonymous counseling sessions so people can share their struggles without any fear of judgment.

Getting some movement during the day really helps clear the head. I always suggest my team take a quick 10-minute walk after lunch instead of immediately sitting at their desks. If your physical health allows, even a short walk outdoors makes a big difference to your daily stress levels.

Sometimes just having a team leader who checks in on you as a human being, and not just for project updates, makes the workplace so much easier to handle. Small gestures of kindness go a very long way.

Managers need to lead by example here. If you don't reply to emails late at night, your juniors will also feel safe turning off their work notifications. Creating a culture where taking sick leave for mental health is normalized is the first step.

Please don't ignore constant anxiety or sleep loss because of work. I ignored my burnout for months until I had a panic attack at my desk and ended up in the emergency room. If you are struggling, go see a professional therapist immediately before it turns into severe clinical depression.

I just started my first job and I already feel so overwhelmed by the targets. Is it normal to feel this anxious every Sunday evening? I would love to know how you all set boundaries with your bosses without sounding rude.
