How to identify acidity?

Lately, I've been having a burning sensation in my chest and a sour taste in my mouth, especially after meals. My friends say it sounds like acidity. How can I really tell if what I'm experiencing is acidity or something else?

Acidity usually feels like a burning sensation in your chest or upper stomach, especially after heavy meals. Since I have high blood pressure, I always keep an eye on these symptoms and avoid self-medicating. Please make sure you get regular checkups, as sometimes chest discomfort can be confused with other issues.

I was reading about this because I often get a sour taste in my mouth after sleeping. Apparently, that sour fluid coming up your throat, bloating, and frequent burping are classic signs of acidity. It is quite interesting how our diet directly affects this so quickly.

If you love spicy street food like me, you will know acidity instantly! It's that burning throat feeling and constant burping after a plate of extra spicy momos. I usually just drink a cold glass of milk to soothe it, but yes, that hot chest burn is the main giveaway.

Beta, when you feel a sour sensation in your mouth and your stomach feels very heavy and hot, it is acidity. Drinking some warm water with cumin seeds (jeera) or eating a piece of jaggery after food helps a lot. Avoid eating stale or very oily foods to keep your digestion peaceful.

Hey, don't stress too much about it, acidity is super common! If you feel bloated, have a slight burning in your food pipe, or feel like skipping your meal because your stomach feels full, it's probably acidity. Just have some fennel seeds (saunf) and drink plenty of water.

I used to panic thinking my chest burning was some major heart issue, but it turned out to be simple acidity. Once I started eating smaller, timely meals, the burning and sour burps completely stopped. It's a very common thing, so just relax and keep your meals simple.

Frequent hiccups, a heavy stomach, and acid reflux after lying down are clear indicators of acidity. I find that going for a light, 15-minute walk after meals really helps digestion and prevents acid build-up. Try to stay active and avoid sleeping immediately after dinner.

You can identify it by a sour throat, stomach fullness, or mild burning in the chest. Chewing on a piece of clove or drinking cold milk gives immediate natural relief. However, if the chest pain is very severe, radiates to your arm, or is accompanied by sweating, please go to a doctor immediately.
