Sitting on office chairs all day has practically destroyed my lower back too. If I sit for too long, my tailbone screams! Honestly, just standing up and walking around every 30 minutes is the only thing that keeps me functional.
The single best thing you can do is buy a doughnut cushion or a U-shaped coccyx cutout pillow to sit on. This prevents direct pressure on the tailbone when you sit. You can also apply a hot pack for 15 minutes to soothe the muscle spasm around it.
If the pain started after a fall or is getting progressively worse, please get an X-ray done at a proper clinic. Don't rely on random stretches because if there is a hairline fracture in the coccyx, you need proper medical rest and guidance.
Since sitting hurts so much, I've started standing and eating my meals at the kitchen counter lately! At least it keeps the pressure off the tailbone while I enjoy my hot paranthas. Give it a try, it actually helps.
