How to help someone with a fever?

My wife has had a high fever since yesterday evening and she's feeling very weak. We've given her some paracetamol, but what else can I do to help bring her fever down and make her more comfortable?

Whenever my kid gets a high fever, the first thing I do is sponge him with normal tap water to gently bring the temperature down. Please avoid using very cold ice-water as it can make them shiver. Make sure they are wearing light, breathable cotton clothes.

Please be very careful and don't just keep self-medicating at home. My brother's minor fever turned into severe typhoid because we delayed visiting a clinic and kept taking basic tablets. If the fever stays high for more than two days, get proper blood tests done immediately.

Since I have high blood pressure, I have to be very careful about what medicines I take during a fever, as some decongestants can spike BP. Keep the patient well-hydrated with warm water or light soups. It is always best to let your doctor prescribe the safe medicine.

Having a fever is the worst because everything tastes completely bitter and bland! While I crave spicy soup, my mom only gives me warm barley water or plain moong dal khichdi. Light, easily digestible foods are definitely best for recovery, even if they are boring.

Give them plenty of rest and keep serving them warm coconut water or fresh juices! 🥥 A little rest and extra care will make them feel much better very soon. Hope they get well soon!

I got viral fever last semester during exams and was totally dehydrated. Just drinking lots of water and ORS kept my energy levels up. Avoid doing any workouts or heavy physical work, just lie down and let the medicine do its job.

Monitor their temperature regularly using a digital thermometer instead of just guessing by touching their forehead. Keep the room airy and use a light sheet instead of heavy blankets. If it crosses 102 degrees, consult a doctor without waiting.

I just recovered from a bad bout of viral fever last week. Complete bed rest and staying hydrated with warm liquids were the only things that helped me regain strength. Don't rush back to daily chores too quickly, as the post-fever weakness can last for a few days.

Fever is just our body's way of telling us we are not superheroes and need to sleep. Don't let them work on their laptops; snatch their phones away and make them rest. A simple wet cloth on the forehead works wonders to make them comfortable.

My mother always makes warm rasam with black pepper which really helps clear the throat and gives comfort during fever. However, for the actual temperature, we always consult our family doctor and follow the exact dosage prescribed. Proper medical guidance is essential.
