How to help newborn sleep in bassinet?

We got a bassinet for our baby, but she just won't settle in it. She prefers sleeping on us. Are there any tricks or tips to help a newborn feel comfortable and sleep in their bassinet instead of our arms?

The exhaustion from trying to put a baby down can really spike your blood pressure, so please take a deep breath. Try warming the bassinet sheet slightly with a hot water bag (remove it before putting the baby in) so it doesn't feel cold. Keep yourself calm and get regular checkups for both yourself and the baby.

Hey, don't worry, it is completely natural for babies to want to cling to you instead of sleeping alone. Try placing your hand gently on their chest for a few minutes after putting them down in the bassinet so they still feel your presence. You are doing a great job, just take it step by step.

The bassinet must have some secret sensors that wake the baby up the second their back touches it! My trick was putting a worn t-shirt of mine near the bassinet (away from baby's face) so it smelled like me. It actually worked like a charm!

Swaddling the baby snugly before putting them down in the bassinet can really help prevent the startle reflex from waking them up. Hope they sleep peacefully tonight.

Gently massage the baby with warm oil and maintain a slow, rhythmic rocking motion before placing them in the bassinet. Let the environment be filled with soft light and peaceful energy so the child feels secure. Patience and gentle breathing will help you stay calm during this transition.
