Fever and chills mean your body is fighting an infection, so don't try to work through it. Take a day off, rest under a warm blanket, and consult a doctor online to get the right medicine rather than waiting for it to worsen.

When I get chills, I wrap myself in three blankets like a mummy, but my wife says that actually traps the heat inside! Just use one comfortable blanket, drink some warm water, and let your body rest. Don't worry, this too shall pass.

I have had mild chills and a warm forehead since morning. Is it okay to do a cold sponge wipe on the neck and forehead, or will that make the shivering worse? I am a bit scared to try anything.

When you have a fever, your body needs absolute rest to conserve energy. Avoid any physical exertion or breathing exercises right now; just lie down quietly, breathe gently through your nose, and drink warm water to stay hydrated.

I have tried everything from ginger tea to basil decoctions, and they do help soothe the throat. But for high fever with shivering, the most practical thing is to monitor your temperature with a thermometer and consult a doctor if it goes above 101 degrees.

Chills usually mean your temperature is rising rapidly. Don't self-medicate with random antibiotics; just consult a physician, get a blood test if it persists for more than two days, and keep yourself hydrated with coconut water or ORS.
