How to help ear pain at home?

My ear started hurting out of nowhere, and it's quite painful right now. I don't want to rush to the doctor for a minor issue if possible. What are some things I can try at home to relieve ear pain?

I know how frustrating and painful earaches can be, it literally makes you want to cry and prevents you from sleeping. Please be very gentle with yourself. Don't put any oil or drops inside without a doctor's advice, as it can cause more infection.

In our days, we used to do a simple warm compress around the ear using a warm towel, which gives great comfort. But let me tell you, never poke anything like ear buds or keys inside the ear, it is very dangerous.

Please be very careful with ear pain. I once put garlic oil in my ear following a home remedy, and it ruptured my eardrum, causing permanent hearing damage on that side. Please go to an ENT specialist immediately.

I was just reading online that ear pain can sometimes be referred pain from a throat infection or a wisdom tooth. It is actually quite interesting how everything is connected. Have you been having a cold or sore throat lately?

Instead of buying expensive over-the-counter ear drops that might not even be suitable, it is better to spend 300-400 rupees on a basic ENT consultation. A proper diagnosis now will save you from costly treatment bills if the infection spreads.

I checked my health tracker app and saw that sinus congestion can often cause ear pressure and pain. Using a steam inhaler to clear your nasal passages might help relieve the pressure in your ears naturally. If it doesn't go down in a day, see an ENT.

Whenever I get a cold and ear block, I just want to eat hot, spicy soup to clear my nose! Avoid chewing hard foods because jaw movement can make the ear pain feel much worse. Stick to comforting, warm khichdi or clear soups.

As someone managing diabetes, I know that we are more prone to ear infections and slower healing. Please don't try self-treatment at home, as an infection can raise your blood sugar levels. Get it checked by a doctor right away.
