Keep the burned area under cool running tap water for at least 15 minutes, it really helps soothe the heat.

For minor kitchen burns, cool water is best. Please avoid applying toothpaste or butter as it can trap the heat and cause an infection. If there are big blisters, it's safer to show a doctor.

Over the years, I've seen many people apply ink or oil to burns, which is very wrong. Just pure, clean running water is the best first aid. The pain will settle down in some time, just keep the wound clean.

We had a burn accident at home once and went straight to the emergency room. They dressed it with sterile ointment and told us never to pop any blisters. Please consult a doctor for a proper sterile dressing to avoid scarring.

Burned my finger while trying to make round rotis yesterday! Keeping it under the tap for ten minutes was my only savior. Definitely stay away from the toothpaste tube, it is not a remedy!

Never use ice directly on a burn as it can damage the skin tissues further. Just use normal, cool tap water to cool the area. Once dry, you can apply a soothing antiseptic cream like burnol.

My doctor explained that cold water stops the burning process from spreading deeper into the skin layers. She warned me never to apply cotton wool directly on a burn because the fibers stick to the wound. Use a clean, non-stick bandage instead.

When my little girl accidentally touched a hot pan, I immediately put her hand under cool tap water for a long time. It stopped the pain and prevented blisters from forming. Keep a good burn ointment handy in your first-aid box.

Our elders always suggest applying fresh aloe vera gel from the garden for minor burns, which feels very cooling. However, if the burn is deep or on the face, please go to a hospital instead of relying on home remedies.

The severity of a burn dictates the treatment. First-degree burns can be managed with cool water and aloe vera, but any second or third-degree burn requires professional clinical assessment to prevent severe infections.
