How to help an underactive thyroid?

My doctor just diagnosed me with an underactive thyroid, and I'm feeling very sluggish and gaining weight. I want to know what I can do to manage this condition better, apart from medication. Any tips on how to help an underactive thyroid?

Underactive thyroid, or hypothyroidism, requires precise hormonal replacement therapy, usually with levothyroxine. There is no alternative to medical treatment, so please consult an endocrinologist. They will determine the correct dosage based on your blood work.

Managing hypothyroidism is a long-term commitment, just like controlling my high blood pressure. You must take your thyroid medication daily on an empty stomach and get regular TSH blood tests every few months to adjust the dosage. Regular doctor follow-ups are the only way to manage this properly.

Please don't fall for internet claims of 'curing' thyroid with special diets or herbs. Hypothyroidism is a medical condition where your body lacks hormone production, and only a doctor can prescribe the right replacement hormone. Always verify your blood reports with a specialist.

I tried drinking coriander seed water and many home remedies for my thyroid, but honestly, only the daily morning pill worked. You can eat healthy foods like bottle gourd juice to feel fresh, but never skip your doctor's prescribed thyroid medicine.

Welcome to the club where your metabolism decides to take a permanent nap! Just take that tiny pill first thing in the morning and wait a bit before your tea. It becomes a simple habit soon, don't sweat it.

Actually, my weight was shooting up like crazy before I got diagnosed, yaar. Once I started taking the thyroid medicine regularly, my energy levels got so much better. Just get your blood tests done and see a good doc.
