How to go on short term disability for mental health?

My therapist suggested I look into short-term disability because I'm really struggling with work lately. I'm feeling very overwhelmed and burnt out, and it's affecting my daily life. How does one even start this process, especially for mental health issues?

I totally get it, sometimes you just need that space to breathe and heal. It's really brave of you to prioritize your mental health. Most companies have a policy for this, usually you need a doctor's note from a psychiatrist or psychologist. Check your company's policy or talk to a trusted HR person.

It's good that you are thinking about your well-being. Sometimes a little break helps clear the mind. Just remember to take care of yourself, mentally and physically. Everything will fall into place, just stay positive and seek the right support.

Honestly, this is a tricky one. I tried to do something similar once and ended up with so much paperwork and stress that it made things worse. Please talk to your HR department first, and definitely consult a mental health professional to get proper documentation. Don't try to navigate it alone.

It's a good step you're considering. Mental health breaks are essential. Just follow your company's process and get proper medical advice. Hope you feel better soon.

Beta, it's very important to take care of your mind, just like your body. In our times, people didn't talk about it much, but now it's okay to seek help. Don't feel ashamed. Talk to a good doctor, they will guide you on how to get the leave you need. Your peace of mind is most important.

Hey! I just went through this last year. My therapist helped me with the necessary forms and explained what to tell my HR. It was a bit scary at first, but honestly, that time off was exactly what I needed. Don't delay, talk to a good therapist and your HR asap.
