How to get through the 4 month sleep regression?

Our baby is exactly 4 months old, and suddenly his sleep has gone haywire. He used to sleep for good stretches, but now he's waking up every hour or two. My wife and I are so tired, is this '4-month sleep regression' thing real, and how do we survive it?

The 4-month sleep regression is very common, but if it's impacting your baby significantly or you're severely sleep-deprived, please consult your paediatrician. At a good hospital, they can offer evidence-based strategies. Ask your doctor clearly about sleep training methods appropriate for this age and any signs to watch out for.

Ah, the 4-month sleep regression, also known as 'Operation: Zombie Parent'! 😂 It's brutal, but you're not alone. The secret weapon? Consistency with bedtime routine, and maybe a huge cup of coffee for yourself. It does pass, I promise! Just survive one night at a time, you'll laugh about it later (maybe).

The 4-month regression is a developmental leap. The most practical approach is to reinforce consistent sleep associations. Maintain a predictable bedtime routine, ensure the baby isn't overtired, and try to put them down drowsy but awake. If co-sleeping or frequent feeds are happening, gently try to reduce them as appropriate. It will take patience.

Sleep deprivation affects overall health, including blood pressure, so please take care of yourself too. For the baby, consistency is key. A calm bedtime routine, checking for hunger or discomfort, and being patient are important. Also, ensure your own sleep hygiene is as good as it can be, even if it's just short naps.

Oh God, the 4-month regression! I swear I'm still recovering from that one. My trick? Accepting defeat, taking turns with my husband, and chugging more coffee than humanly possible. Seriously though, a strict routine (even if it felt pointless for a while) and black-out curtains eventually helped. Good luck, you'll need it! 😭

I've been there! The 4-month regression is tough because their sleep cycles change. What helped me was focusing on independent sleep from the start of the night. Make sure they are well-fed before bed, put them down drowsy but awake, and give them a few minutes to settle before intervening. Sometimes they just need to learn to connect sleep cycles themselves.

Beta, this is a very common time. Bachche bade ho rahe hain, unki neend badalti hai. Aap bas din mein thoda massaj karo, shaam ko naha do. Ek hi samay par sulaane ki koshish karo. Thoda paani mein ajwain daal ke pila sakte ho agar pet mein gas ho. Par sabse zaroori hai dukh mat mano, yeh din bhi nikal jayega.

Listen, 4-month sleep regression means your baby is growing. Don't fall into bad habits trying to 'fix' it quickly. Stick to a solid bedtime routine every single night. Feed, bath, lullaby, bed. No exceptions. It'll be hard for a few weeks, but consistency is your only way out. Be firm, be patient.
