How to get rid of terrible dandruff?

My dandruff is terrible, it flakes off so much and my scalp feels so itchy all the time. I've tried a few anti-dandruff shampoos, but nothing seems to really work. Is there anything effective for really stubborn dandruff?

Terrible dandruff is more than just dry scalp, it could be a fungal infection or even a skin condition like seborrheic dermatitis. I had a friend who ignored it and it led to hair loss and scalp issues. So, please don't just keep trying random shampoos. See a dermatologist, they can properly diagnose and give you medicated shampoos or treatments. Better safe than sorry.

Dandruff can range from mild flaking to severe, persistent itching and scaling. While over-the-counter anti-dandruff shampoos containing zinc pyrithione or selenium sulfide can be effective for mild cases, 'terrible dandruff' often requires medical attention. A dermatologist can determine the underlying cause and prescribe stronger medicated shampoos, topical steroids, or antifungal treatments. Professional advice ensures targeted and effective treatment.

Terrible dandruff can be a pain, literally! For me, a good anti-dandruff shampoo used consistently makes a difference. Look for ones with Ketoconazole. Also, a practical tip: don't wash your hair with very hot water, and make sure your scalp is dry before tying your hair. If it's really bad, a doctor's visit will be the most practical solution, they might give you something stronger.
