How to get rid of pain on top of foot?

Lately, I've had this nagging pain on the top of my foot, mostly when I wear certain shoes. It's not severe, but it's annoying. What could be causing it and how can I get rid of this pain?

Dekho, pehli baat toh yeh hai ki shoes bohot tight toh nahi bandh rahe ho? Sometimes tight laces press directly on the nerves on top of the foot and cause pain. Change your lacing style, wear comfortable footwear, and rest your foot for a few days.

I had this exact pain last year, and it turned out to be extensor tendonitis from walking too much on a trip. The most effective thing is to completely rest the foot, avoid tight shoes, and apply ice wraps for 15 minutes twice a day. If it doesn't get better in a week, go see an orthopedic specialist.

Hey, don't stress too much about it, it's probably just a small muscle strain or you might have accidentally bumped it somewhere. Just put your feet up, watch a movie, and let it rest today. If it still hurts badly tomorrow, we can plan to visit a doctor together.

Since the top of the foot has many small bones and tendons, any sharp pain or swelling there should not be ignored. It is always safest to get an X-ray done to rule out any hairline fractures or structural issues. Please consult an orthopedic doctor for a proper diagnosis.

Pain on the top of the foot can sometimes be due to a stress fracture or tendon inflammation, especially if you walk or run a lot. I always advise people to avoid massage or rubbing the area roughly, as it can worsen any underlying bone or tendon issue. Please rest it and consult a doctor if there is swelling.
