How to get rid of heavy dandruff?

I've had heavy dandruff for a very long time, and nothing I try seems to work for good. My scalp gets so itchy and flaky, especially in winters. What are some effective ways to finally get rid of this heavy dandruff?

Heavy dandruff is so annoying and can really ruin your confidence. A medicated shampoo with ketoconazole works best for this.

Please don't worry too much about it, many of us face severe dandruff during weather changes. Keep your scalp clean and avoid using heavy oils for a few days.

I literally thought I was balding because of how much hair was falling with the dandruff. But then a dermatologist assured me it's very common and gave me a scalp lotion. It cleared up in three weeks, so relax, it is totally treatable.

I used to have embarrassing flakes on my shoulders all the time. Applying a bit of diluted apple cider vinegar to the scalp for 10 minutes before washing helped me, but using a proper anti-dandruff shampoo twice a week is what actually cured it.

I am not an expert, but in my experience, oiling my hair actually made my dandruff worse because the fungus feeds on oil. Switching to a mild, clarifying shampoo and washing my hair regularly after sweating did the trick for me.
