How to get rid of dark eczema patches?

I've had eczema for a long time, and even when the itching calms down, it leaves these really dark patches on my skin. They make me feel very conscious, especially when I wear short sleeves. What can I do to make them go away?

Listen, eczema patches take a long time to fade, so don't expect magic in two days. Keep the area extremely moisturized with simple virgin coconut oil or heavy unscented creams, and do not scratch them at all.

Eczema is a medical skin condition and dark patches can sometimes mean active inflammation or infection. Please do not apply random bleaching creams or home scrubs on these patches. Get it checked by a qualified dermatologist.

My eczema flares up and leaves dark spots whenever my thyroid levels fluctuate. If you have other symptoms like tiredness or weight changes, please get a thyroid test done and consult your doctor for proper treatment.

I totally get it, dealing with dark patches on visible areas can make you feel so conscious and frustrated. Please be gentle with your skin; applying pure shea butter or aloe vera gel can help soothe the dryness and slowly lighten them over time.

With high blood sugar, skin patches take much longer to heal and are prone to infections. Focus on keeping your sugar levels stable with a clean diet and use only doctor-prescribed moisturizing ointments on those eczema spots.

Over the years, I have seen that keeping the skin barrier protected is key for eczema. Avoid using hot water for baths as it strips away moisture, and apply your moisturizer on damp skin immediately after bathing to lock in hydration.
