How to get rid of back head pain?

Since last few days, I'm getting a lot of pain at the back of my head. It feels like a constant ache and sometimes it becomes sharp. Is there anything I can do at home to relieve it?

I get this sharp pain at the back of my head whenever I stare at my phone screen in a weird angle for too long. Improving my sitting posture and doing basic neck stretches usually relieves it for me.

Sometimes dehydration or skipping meals can trigger tension headaches that start from the neck and go to the back of the head. Drink plenty of water and eat clean, home-cooked food on time.

You can apply a warm sesame oil compress to your neck to relax the muscles. However, if this pain is sudden, extremely severe, or accompanied by dizziness and vomiting, please consult a neurologist immediately.

I had this back head pain last week because of my heavy gym routine and bad neck posture. Resting for two days and using a thinner pillow while sleeping fixed it completely.

I tried various balms and oils for my occipital pain but only a proper chiropractic stretch and stress management helped. If the pain radiates down your shoulders, it's best to consult a physiotherapist.

At 54, if I sleep on the wrong pillow for even five minutes, the back of my head aches for three days. Trust me, invest in a good cervical pillow, it saves you half the misery!

My doctor explained that tension headaches or occipital neuralgia often cause pain in the back of the skull. He advised me to do regular neck strengthening exercises and avoid bending my neck forward while working on my laptop.
