How to get proper sleep?

Lately, I've been struggling to fall asleep and often wake up feeling tired. My work schedule is a bit erratic, but I really want to fix my sleep cycle. What are some effective ways to ensure I get proper, restful sleep every night?

I know how frustrating it is to stare at the ceiling for hours while your mind is racing. It makes you feel so exhausted and anxious the next day. Trying to put away my phone an hour before bed helped me calm down slowly.

My grandmother used to suggest drinking warm turmeric milk before sleeping, which is very soothing. However, when my insomnia became severe, I consulted our family doctor who helped me set a proper routine. Do visit a doctor if this is a daily struggle.

Sleep issues can really break you down mentally when you feel tired but your brain just won't shut off. I used to cry out of sheer frustration some nights. What slowly helped was keeping a fixed wake-up time, no matter how badly I slept the night before.

I agree with keeping the bedroom completely dark and cool. Making sure my room was quiet and pitch black made a huge difference to my sleep quality.

Poor sleep was driving my blood pressure levels really high last year. I had to strictly cut out afternoon naps and tea after 5 PM. Getting your vitals checked is important because sleep apnea can also cause sleep disruptions.
