How to get pain meds from your doctor?

My back has been bothering me a lot lately, especially after long hours at work. My regular pain balms don't seem to be helping anymore. I think I need something stronger, but not sure how to approach my doctor about it.

Beta, just go and tell your doctor openly where it hurts and how long it has been hurting. They are very kind and will write the best medicine for you immediately. No need to feel shy about it.

At my age, my joints make more noise than my car. I just tell my doctor honestly that I can't sleep because of the pain, and he happily prescribes something. No need to act brave in front of the doc!

Listen, doctors are there to help you, not judge you. Just describe your pain clearly—whether it is sharp, dull, or throbbing—and they will prescribe what is appropriate. Don't suffer silently, okay?

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel super nervous asking their doctor for painkillers? I worry they might think I am overreacting. How do you guys explain your pain level to them?

I used to think asking for pain relief was a big deal, but it is actually very routine. Doctors deal with this every day. Just book an appointment, explain your symptoms, and they will help you out easily.
