How to get off thyroid medicine?

I've been on thyroid medicine for a while, and sometimes I wonder if I'll have to take it forever. My doctor hasn't brought it up, but I'm curious if there's a process to gradually stop taking it if your levels become normal. How does one get off thyroid medicine?

My grandmother used to say eating coriander seeds helps the throat, but for thyroid, we must listen to the doctor. It is safer to take your prescription regularly and let the doctor adjust the dose after seeing your blood tests.

Please do not stop your thyroid medicine on your own. I did that once thinking I was fine, and within three months I had severe fatigue, hair loss, and joint pains. Get a proper blood test done and consult your doctor first.

I have been taking Thyronorm 75mcg every morning for the past four years. In my experience, my doctor only reduced the dose when I lost weight and improved my sleeping schedule, but I am still taking the medicine.

Taking a pill every morning in college is such a pain, I totally get it. But my doc said stopping it suddenly will mess up my weight and energy during exams, so I just keep a reminder on my phone.

Please consult your doctor before stopping any thyroid medicine, as doing it suddenly can harm your health.

Stopping thyroid medicine suddenly is very risky, haan na. It controls our metabolism and energy levels. It is better to talk to your doctor and let them decide based on your reports.

My endocrinologist explained that if the thyroid gland is permanently damaged, external hormone replacement is necessary. Stopping the medication abruptly can lead to severe issues like myxedema in extreme cases. Always taper down the dose only under medical supervision.

Look, don't play with your health by stopping medicines based on internet advice. If you feel fine now, it is because the medicine is working. Go to a doctor and let them check your thyroid levels properly.

My teenage daughter has thyroid issues and we also wanted to stop her daily pills. But our doctor explained how important it is for her growth, so we just focus on a healthy diet along with the daily medicine now.

I also hated taking my thyroid pill every morning, but I realized it is just a small step to keep me healthy. Try to focus on eating clean and staying active, and let your doctor handle the medicine part.

Thyroid hormone levels fluctuate naturally, which is why your doctor checks your blood reports every few months. If your thyroid has recovered, your doctor will reduce your dose gradually, so please do not take any decision yourself.

Let's be direct: there's no shortcut here. If you have hypothyroidism, your body lacks thyroid hormone and needs the supplement. Go get a TSH test done and discuss the results with your doctor.

You can use health apps to track your weight and activity, which helps manage thyroid symptoms. But getting off the medication completely is a medical decision that only your doctor can make after a TSH blood test.

I tried yoga, dietary changes, and special herbs hoping to stop my thyroid tablets, but my reports only stayed normal with the medicine. Home remedies are good for general energy, but we must follow the doctor's prescription.
