How to get off pain pills?

I had a surgery a few months ago and was prescribed some pain medication, but now I feel like I rely on them too much. I want to stop taking them, but I'm worried about the withdrawal. Any advice on how to get off pain pills safely?

Stopping pain medications suddenly can cause severe withdrawal symptoms, as my doctor explained when I was tapering off my post-surgery meds. You must follow a structured tapering schedule supervised by your physician. They might slowly reduce the dosage week by week to make it safe for your body.

Be very careful because stopping strong painkillers suddenly can affect your heart rate and raise your blood pressure significantly. I had to monitor my BP daily when reducing my medication. Keep your doctor in the loop and do it very gradually.

For mild pains, warm mustard oil massages or hot water fermentation can really help you avoid taking pills. However, if you are dependent on strong prescribed painkillers, please do not self-manage. Go to your doctor to safely taper off them.

While you work with your doctor to reduce pills, try adding anti-inflammatory foods to your diet like turmeric, ginger, and green leafy vegetables. Eating clean helps naturally manage mild body pain, but don't stop your prescribed medicine without medical guidance.

You can definitely do this! 👍 Just make sure to speak with your doctor so they can help you reduce the dose slowly and safely. Walking and light yoga also helped me a lot with managing pain naturally.
