How to get ocular migraine?

I've been experiencing these strange visual disturbances and flashing lights sometimes before a headache starts. My doctor mentioned it might be an ocular migraine. I'm wondering what actually triggers these types of migraines.

Bro, why would you want to get an ocular migraine? I get them from staring at my laptop screen too long without breaks and not drinking enough water. It literally makes you lose half your vision for 20 minutes and it is extremely scary.

With my hormonal issues, I sometimes get these blind spots before a headache. Hormonal changes are a huge trigger for ocular migraines, so keep an eye on your cycle. It is always better to consult your doctor to rule out other issues.

Listen, if you are asking because you are experiencing blurry vision or zigzag lights, please don't ignore it. Go and see an eye doctor first. If you are asking what causes it, it is usually triggered by stress, bright lights, or skipping meals.

The first time I saw blind spots and flashing lights, I panicked and thought I was having a stroke. But the doctor reassured me it is just an ocular migraine and quite harmless. It usually passes on its own in 30 minutes, so just lie down in a dark room.

If you want to know how to trigger one, just sleep for 3 hours, drink 5 cups of black coffee, and stare at a bright monitor all day like I do. Trust me, the flashing lights and sudden blindness are definitely not worth it, my head is throbbing right now.

I used to suffer from these a lot due to sinus and heat. Drinking ginger tea helps reduce the nausea, and placing a cold damp cloth over your eyes in a dark room really eases the visual aura. Please make sure you stay hydrated throughout the day.
