How to get newborn to sleep at night?

I'm a new mom, and my newborn is just not settling at night. I'm getting very little sleep and it's starting to affect me. What are some proven methods to help my newborn sleep at night? Any advice would be so helpful.

Please remember that newborns don't have a developed sleep cycle yet, so don't stress if they wake up every 2-3 hours. Keep the room very quiet and use dim lights during night feedings so they learn the difference between day and night. You are doing great, just take it day by day.

When my son was a newborn, playing soft white noise or a gentle lullaby in the background really helped soothe him to sleep. I also noticed that maintaining a very calm, dark room made a huge difference in how quickly he settled down after night feeds.

Our pediatrician told us that newborns actually sleep 14-17 hours a day, but in short chunks because of their tiny stomachs. He advised us to gently burp the baby after every feed to prevent gas discomfort, which is a major reason why they wake up crying at night.

I totally get it, those sleepless nights with a newborn can make you feel completely exhausted and overwhelmed. Try to sleep whenever the baby sleeps during the day, even if it's just for 30 minutes. This phase is hard, but it will pass soon, I promise.

Oh god, caring for a newborn means your dinner times are totally ruined! My sister used to eat her meals cold because the baby would wake up the moment she sat down to eat. Having a comfortable, quiet nursing chair really helped her get the baby back to sleep quickly.

From my experience, feeding the baby fully right before bedtime is key so they don't wake up immediately from hunger. Also, ensure the room temperature is comfortable—neither too hot nor too cold. Avoid using heavy blankets or pillows in the crib for safety reasons.
