At 2 years old, establishing a highly consistent bedtime routine is scientifically proven to help. Try to limit active play or screen time at least two hours before sleep and keep the room dark and cool. If your child still wakes up crying frequently, it is best to consult your pediatrician to rule out colic or teething issues.

No need to buy those expensive sleep training courses or fancy nightlights online. Just make sure the child has a stomach-filling, warm dinner like soft khichdi about an hour before sleeping, and keep the bedroom quiet. Practical changes like fixing a daily sleep time cost absolutely nothing and work best.

My children also had very erratic sleep when they were toddlers, but they eventually grow out of this phase. Try feeding them a small cup of warm milk before bedtime and massage their feet gently. A calm environment and patience are the best remedies for young kids.

Managing a toddler's sleep while dealing with your own health issues is so exhausting, so please take care of yourself too. Try to coordinate with your partner to share the night duties so you don't get completely burnt out. A warm, quiet environment usually works best for the baby.

I used to massage my toddler's back with slightly warm sesame oil before putting him to bed, and it worked beautifully to relax his muscles. Also, make sure their sleeping clothes are soft cotton and there are no tight elastics. Simple comfort makes a world of difference.

If you find the magical trick to make a toddler sleep through the night, please let me know because my dark circles are getting their own zip code. I literally have to sing five different lullabies and walk around the room like a zombie just to get 4 hours of peace!
