How to get more rem sleep?

My dreams feel very few and far between, and I heard that often means less REM sleep. Any suggestions on how to actively increase the amount of REM sleep I'm getting? I want to feel more refreshed.

It is completely normal to feel stressed when you see your sleep tracker showing low REM sleep, I used to obsess over those charts constantly. What helped me relax was realizing that sleep is natural. Once I stopped stressing about the numbers and just focused on relaxing my mind, my sleep improved.

If you want better REM sleep, which mostly happens in the second half of the night, you must ensure you get at least 7-8 hours of total sleep. Waking up too early for work cuts off your REM cycles, so try going to bed 45 minutes earlier.

I am thoda confused about what REM sleep actually does for our body. Does it help with memory and stress? If anyone can explain in simple terms, it would be really helpful for me.

Instead of spending thousands on expensive sleep trackers or diagnostic sleep studies at fancy clinics, try the free solutions first. Set a strict sleep routine, use simple earplugs to block noise, and keep your room dark. If those don't work after a month, then plan for medical tests.

Late-night snacking can cause spikes and drops in blood sugar, which triggers micro-awakenings that disrupt your REM sleep. Try to keep your evening meal balanced and avoid sweet desserts. Consistent glucose levels equal a much smoother sleep cycle.

A cup of warm milk with a little ashwagandha powder can calm your mind naturally before bed. However, if you are experiencing severe daytime sleepiness or gasping for breath at night, please do not rely only on home remedies and visit a doctor immediately.

The key to increasing REM sleep is reducing alcohol and caffeine intake. Alcohol might help you fall asleep fast, but it completely blocks REM sleep in the first half of the night. Cut it out for a week, and you will see a massive difference.

Poor REM sleep can keep your sympathetic nervous system active, which can elevate your blood pressure. I had to undergo a proper medical checkup to find this out. Focus on daily morning exercise and keeping stress low to help stabilize both your sleep and BP.

I literally just resolved this after months of feeling brain-fogged. I completely blocked out all blue light from my bedroom and stopped using my phone after 9:30 PM. My dream recall and REM sleep have improved significantly over the last two weeks.
