How to eat bitter melon for diabetes?

My Ayurvedic doctor suggested I start having bitter melon (karela) for my diabetes. I know it's good, but it's so bitter! What's the most effective and palatable way to eat it to help control my blood sugar?

Hey, don't stress too much about the bitterness, it's part of its charm, right? 😉 My friend makes a karela juice with a little bit of apple and ginger to cut the taste. Or you can just make a nice dry sabzi with lots of onions, that also helps balance it out.

Yo, my grandma always makes karela sabzi. It's bitter af, but she says it's good for blood sugar. She usually scrapes the skin, removes seeds, and then salts it and leaves it for a bit to squeeze out some bitterness before cooking. Still bitter, but manageable!

Haan beta, karela is very good. My father had diabetes, and my mother used to give him karela juice every morning. It's not tasty, I know, but it helps. You can also make a nice stuffed karela, it tastes much better that way, with masalas inside.

While karela is known for its benefits, it's super important to talk to your doctor or a dietician first, especially if you're already on diabetes medication. They can tell you the right amount and frequency for you. Safety first, always!

For diabetes, karela is often recommended. You can make a juice, but dilute it or mix with other veggies like cucumber to make it easier to drink. Cooking it as a sabzi or bhurji with a good amount of spices also works well. Just monitor your blood sugar regularly, okay?

Karela is definitely a traditional remedy. My mom always suggests cutting it, rubbing salt, and leaving it for half an hour, then squeezing out the bitter water. Then cook it well. But remember, for proper diabetes management, please see a doctor and follow their advice. Home remedies are supplementary.

Honestly, karela is a challenge, even for a foodie like me! 😂 But if it's for health, gotta find a way. I once had a super spicy, tangy karela pickle, and that was actually quite good. The spices masked the bitterness nicely. You could also try making chips out of it, deep-fried or air-fried!
