For an infected tooth, home remedies will only give you temporary relief for a few hours. I usually do warm salt water rinses 3-4 times a day to keep the area clean, but please book a dentist appointment immediately. Infections can spread quickly, so getting a proper checkup and antibiotics if prescribed is the best way.

Honestly, I panicked so much last month when my molar started throbbing, thinking it was a major emergency. But the dentist just cleaned the infection and put me on a short course of meds. Don't worry too much, just keep cold compresses on your cheek tonight and visit the clinic tomorrow.

Writing this at 3 AM because tooth pain is the absolute worst enemy of sleep. I've been holding ice water in my mouth just to get five minutes of peace. Please save yourself the sleepless nights and go to a doc, household tricks can only do so much.

That throbbing tooth literally feels like a personal DJ party inside your jaw, no? Just put a small piece of clove near the tooth for temporary relief, but don't try to play doctor at home forever. Go get it drilled or cleaned before you start crying over dal-chawal!

I was actually reading up on this because my cousin has the same issue right now. Apparently, clove oil can numb the pain temporarily because of eugenol, but it doesn't cure the underlying infection. Definitely needs a proper dental x-ray to see what is going on inside.

Hey, I had a painful wisdom tooth infection a few months back. Gargling with warm salt water really helped soothe the gums for a while. Just don't chew anything from that side of your mouth and book a quick dentist visit to get it sorted.

If the pain is unbearable right now, salt water gargles are the cheapest and safest option till morning. Don't waste money on fancy over-the-counter gels that don't work on deep infections. Just budget for a proper dentist visit because only they can clean the root properly.

Does anyone else get a shooting headache along with their tooth pain? Mine is throbbing so badly and I'm really scared it might be something serious. I took a paracetamol but it's barely working, is this normal for an infected tooth?

Hang in there! Toothaches are super annoying but very easy to fix once you visit a dental clinic. Try a cold compress on your cheek while watching your favorite show to distract yourself. You will be absolutely fine very soon!

With a dental infection, there is a risk of the bacteria spreading to the jawbone, so self-medicating is not a good idea. A dentist needs to evaluate if it needs a root canal or a simple filling. For tonight, you can use a mild painkiller if your doctor has previously suggested one, but get a professional consult tomorrow.

My son had a terrible tooth infection last term and could barely eat anything. I gave him soft, lukewarm khichdi and cold yogurt, which helped soothe his mouth a bit. Please avoid giving anything too hot or too cold, and do get a dentist to check it out soon.

Bro, don't ignore an infected tooth. I tried keeping a clove on it for a week thinking it would go away, but the pain got so bad my face swelled up. Finally had to get a root canal done. Just go to a dentist and get it over with.

As someone managing diabetes, I have to be extremely careful with dental infections because high blood sugar can make them worse. If you are diabetic too, please monitor your sugar levels closely right now. Don't take any sweet syrups for pain, just consult your dentist immediately.

In our times, we used to press a dry clove against the hurting tooth, which definitely helps quieten the nerve. But remember, that is just a temporary fix. At this age, I know that ignoring a dental infection only leads to bigger troubles later, so please see a dentist.

I dealt with a severe tooth infection last year. The key is to keep your head elevated with an extra pillow when sleeping, as lying flat increases pressure and pain in the tooth. Also, avoid picking at the tooth or using sharp objects, and let the doctor handle it.
