How to ease the pain of an ear infection?

My little sister has an ear infection, and she's really struggling with the pain, especially when she tries to sleep. Mom is giving her medicine, but she still seems uncomfortable. What can we do at home to help ease her ear pain?

I completely understand how terrifying and exhausting this pain can be, it literally makes your whole head throb and feels so scary. Please take a deep breath, you will be okay. Try using a warm compress on the outside of your ear for 10 minutes to soothe it, but definitely get a doctor to check inside with an otoscope so you have peace of mind.

Honestly, ear pain at 3 AM is its own kind of torture, I have barely slept a wink because of it before. Keeping your head elevated with two pillows helps a bit with the throbbing so you can at least try to dose off. But seriously, don't put random drops in it, just see an ENT doctor first thing in the morning.

I panicked so bad last year when my ear started hurting, I thought my eardrum burst or something! Actually, it turned out to be a very common middle ear infection that cleared up easily. A simple warm water bottle wrapped in a towel held against the ear works wonders for the ache until you get your doctor's prescription.

Beta, in our times we used a warm compress outside the ear to ease the swelling and pain. Please do not put any hot oil or ginger juice inside the ear canal as it can cause harm. Just rest your head and visit a local clinic to get it cleaned properly by a professional.

As someone managing diabetes, I have to be extremely careful with infections because our healing is slow and sugar levels can spike with pain. When I had ear pain, my doctor strictly told me to avoid self-treating and prescribed specific ear drops. Keep your blood sugar in check and please consult your doctor immediately.
