I panicked so much when my tooth started throbbing in the middle of the night, thinking I would need a major surgery. But rinsing with warm salt water and placing a tiny piece of cotton soaked in clove oil directly on the tooth eased the pain completely until my morning dental visit. It is very manageable, don't worry.

My molar has been throbbing constantly and my cheek feels slightly swollen today. Does anyone else get this sharp pain when drinking normal water? I hope it isn't a severe infection that needs a root canal.

I completely understand how overwhelming and unbearable toothache pain can be, especially when it throbs into your ear and head. It makes you feel so helpless and anxious. Applying a cold compress on your jaw from outside can really help numb the sharp ache for a while.

For temporary relief at home, chewing a piece of fresh garlic or holding a warm wet tea bag against the sore tooth works quite well due to their natural anti-inflammatory properties. Just make sure to avoid extremely hot, cold, or sweet foods which can trigger sudden sharp pain.

While home remedies like clove oil can provide temporary relief, they do not cure the underlying cavity or nerve infection. If you notice any facial swelling, fever, or difficulty swallowing, please see a dentist immediately as the infection can spread. Never delay professional treatment for dental issues.
