How to ease the pain of a hiatal hernia?

My mother has a hiatal hernia, and she often complains of chest pain and heartburn, especially after meals. She's taking medication, but sometimes it's still quite uncomfortable for her. Are there any dietary changes or home remedies that can help ease her pain?

I panicked so much when I first got chest pain and severe reflux, thinking it was a heart attack, but it was just a hiatal hernia. Once I started eating smaller meals and stopped lying down immediately after dinner, the discomfort reduced significantly. Don't worry, it is very manageable with lifestyle changes.

That chest burning and feeling of food stuck in your throat is so terrifying and can make you so anxious. I completely understand how you feel. Elevating the head of my bed by six inches helped me sleep without acid reflux waking me up in panic.

My son had severe acid reflux due to a mild hiatal issue, and we had to be very strict with his meal timings. We ensure he finishes his dinner at least three hours before bedtime and avoids carbonated drinks completely. It really helps keep the stomach acid down naturally.

Does anyone else get severe shortness of breath or bloating right after eating because of this? I feel so heavy in my upper stomach and it is making me really nervous. I hope simple antacids are safe to take daily for this.

Managing my gut health is already tricky with PCOS, so dealing with acid reflux from a hiatal hernia needs extra care. I find that avoiding tight waistbands and eating small, bland meals helps a lot. But please check with your doctor before starting any strict dietary restrictions.

Honestly, late-night study sessions with oily snacks and instant noodles made my hiatal hernia pain so much worse. I had to stop eating spicy street food and late-night meals completely. Shifting to simple home-cooked food actually saved my stomach.

Look, if you eat a heavy dinner and go straight to bed, your hernia will obviously hurt. Keep your dinner light, walk for fifteen minutes afterward, and don't drink water right during meals. Follow these simple rules and your acidity will settle down.
