My upper eyelid is completely swollen and blinking hurts so bad today. Does anyone else get this throbbing pain that goes up to the forehead? I am applying a warm compress but I hope it is normal and doesn't get infected further.
Styes are super annoying but they usually clear up soon! Warm green tea bag compresses worked like magic for me last time. Just relax, avoid eye makeup for a couple of days, and let your eye breathe.
In our younger days, we used to get styes quite often after traveling in dusty winds. We simply used to warm a clean cotton handkerchief on an iron or with steam, and press it gently over the closed eye. Do this four times a day and the swelling will go down naturally in three to four days.
Having a painful stye means I cannot even enjoy my favourite hot rolls because steam from the food hits my eye and makes it water! I just stick to simple food and avoid spicy stuff that might make me sweat near the eyes. A warm cotton pad compress is the only thing that gives me relief.

Whatever you do, please do not try to squeeze or pop the stye like a pimple, as that spreads the infection inside your eye. Just use a clean washcloth dipped in warm water and hold it gently on the eye for 10 minutes. If you see yellow pus forming, you might need antibiotic eye drops from an ophthalmologist.
