My son had stitches on his knee last year after falling from his bicycle. I made sure he kept the area completely dry and didn't bend his knee too much. We applied the doctor-prescribed antibiotic ointment gently without rubbing, which really helped keep the pain down.

Avoid any form of stretching, lifting, or exercises that put strain on the area with stitches, as you might risk popping them open. Focus on a high-protein diet to help with tissue repair and stay well-hydrated. Let the body heal completely before you get back to your regular physical routine.

I am not qualified to give medical advice, but when I had stitches on my hand, keeping the arm elevated above my heart level helped a lot with the throbbing pain. I also wore very loose clothes so they wouldn't catch on the threads. I strictly followed my doctor's instructions for cleaning it.

Wasting time on internet remedies for post-surgical or wound stitches is a bad idea. Take the pain medications exactly as scheduled by your surgeon, and do not skip doses. Keep the wound protected from dust, take your medical leave, and rest quietly until the stitches are ready to be removed.

To ease the throbbing sensation, you can keep the limb elevated on a few pillows to reduce blood flow and swelling. However, please do not apply any home remedies, oils, or herbal pastes directly on open stitches. If you see any pus, redness, or feel a fever, go to your doctor immediately.

Pain from stitches can elevate your stress levels and temporarily increase your blood pressure. Make sure you sit in a comfortable, quiet room, take your prescribed pain medications on time, and keep your BP checked. Rest is the most important factor for healing.

I went to Kokilaben Hospital for my surgery and the nursing staff clearly told me never to wet the stitches until the doctor permits. They gave me a specific routine for dressing changes and told me to report any sudden pain. Please call your hospital's helpline or your doctor to ask if your pain levels are normal.

Please be very careful with stitches, as any infection there can quickly escalate into a serious issue. If the pain is increasing instead of decreasing, or if the wound feels hot to touch, you must get it checked by your doctor immediately. Do not try to self-manage severe pain.
