How to ease rotator cuff pain?

My right shoulder has been giving me trouble for months now, especially when I try to lift things or reach overhead. The doctor said it might be rotator cuff related. Any tips on how to get some relief at home?

I totally get it, rotator cuff pain is so exhausting because you can't even lift your arm to comb your hair or sleep comfortably at night. It really drains your daily energy when simple tasks become so painful. Please take things slow and give your shoulder some well-deserved rest.

For shoulder pain, we traditional folks always suggest avoiding sleeping on that side and letting the joint rest completely. You can apply a warm compress using sesame oil mixed with a little camphor to soothe the stiffness. But do not try to lift anything heavy or pull heavy doors.

Once the acute pain subsides, very gentle shoulder rotation movements (Sukshma Vyayama) can help prevent the joint from freezing. I also practiced deep breathing to relax my upper body muscles. Just make sure you do not push your arm beyond its comfortable limit.

Listen, shoulder pain is not something you should ignore or try to fix by swinging your arm around. Go to a good orthopaedic doctor and get an MRI or X-ray done to see if there is a tear. Until then, keep the arm rested and don't lift even a bucket of water.

When I injured my rotator cuff at the gym, ice packs were the only thing that brought down the sharp inflammation during the first few days. I also stopped doing any overhead shoulder movements entirely. I eventually had to go to a physiotherapist to regain full range of motion safely.

Since diabetics are highly prone to frozen shoulder, rotator cuff pain needs to be treated very carefully. Make sure you keep your blood sugar levels strictly under control, as high sugar can increase inflammation and delay tendon healing. Do consult your doctor for a proper therapy plan.

Hey buddy, don't stress too much about it, just give your shoulder a break for a week! Avoid gym workouts or lifting heavy bags, and let the muscle heal. Use a hot gel pack if it feels stiff, and you'll be back to normal soon.
