How to ease kidney pain at home?

My son has been complaining of pain in his side, and the doctor thinks it might be kidney-related. We can't always rush to the hospital for every ache. Are there any safe home remedies or tips to ease kidney pain at home?

My urologist clearly warned me that kidney pain should never be treated with self-proclaimed 'home cures' as it is usually a sign of an infection or a stone. He told me that while drinking plenty of water is good for flushing small stones, an active infection needs specific antibiotic therapy. Please get a urine culture and ultrasound done to identify the actual issue.

Trying to manage kidney pain at home without a diagnosis can be very risky, as untreated infections can spread quickly. For your own safety, please visit a doctor or a clinic immediately to get your kidneys evaluated. Do not rely on warm water bags or herbal teas to make it go away.

Please don't trust internet videos that promise to 'dissolve kidney stones in 24 hours' using random home ingredients. You could easily worsen your condition or delay critical medical care. Go to a proper hospital and let a qualified doctor run the necessary tests.

When my doctor was treating me for a minor kidney stone, he said keeping myself gently active and walking thoda helped the stone pass naturally. However, if the pain is severe or you have a fever, complete rest is needed. Always ask your physician before doing any movement or exercise.

I was researching kidney discomfort recently and learned that true kidney pain is often felt high up in the back, just under the ribs, unlike normal lower back pain. It seems home care is mostly about keeping hydrated, but a doctor's visit is essential to check for infections. Let us know what the doctor says!
