How to ease gas pain in infants?

My baby, who is 4 months old, often cries inconsolably due to what seems like gas pain. It breaks my heart to see her so uncomfortable. Are there any gentle methods to ease gas pain in infants?

I track my baby's feeding and sleep cycles on a parenting app, and we noticed a direct link between fast feeding and gas. Try to burp your baby mid-feed and keep them upright for 15-20 minutes after. It significantly reduces trapped air.

Beta, you can apply a very thin paste of hing (asafoetida) mixed with warm water around the baby's navel, but make sure not to put it inside the belly button. Gently massaging their stomach in clockwise circles also helps. If the baby cries continuously, please consult the pediatrician.

At this point, I think baby burping should be an Olympic sport because it takes so much patience! Doing gentle bicycle legs with the baby is the only thing that worked for my kids. Hang in there, this phase passes soon enough.

If you are breastfeeding, sometimes certain cruciferous vegetables or heavy lentils in your own diet can cause mild gas in the infant. Try keeping a food diary to see if there is a pattern. Focus on simple, easily digestible vegetarian meals yourself.

Dealing with baby gas is so overwhelming, especially when you are recovering yourself. Tummy time for just a couple of minutes when they are awake can naturally help them pass gas. Always check with your pediatrician before giving any gripe water or drops.

I totally get it, seeing your tiny baby cry in discomfort is so heartbreaking. Try giving them a warm bath, as the warm water naturally relaxes their abdominal muscles. Hold them close and do gentle rocking motions, it really helps soothe their nervous system.
