How to ease asthma cough?

My asthma sometimes triggers a really persistent cough that makes it hard to breathe properly. It's not always severe enough for the inhaler. What are some effective ways to ease asthma cough without immediately resorting to medication? Maybe some home remedies?

Beta, when the cough gets bad, try sipping thoda warm water throughout the day. Keep your chest warm and avoid sleeping directly under the high speed fan. God bless you, please consult your doctor for proper medicines too.

Currently typing this at 3 AM because my own asthma cough won't let me sleep tonight. Raising my pillows to sit semi-upright is the only thing keeping me alive right now. Do yourself a favor and keep your inhaler right on the bedside table.

Hey, don't stress too much, we will figure this out. Just make sure you are taking steam daily to clear the passages, and keep your room super dust-free. If it is getting worse, just buzz your doctor, okay?

My 10-year-old struggles with this exact dry cough every winter. We run a humidifier in his bedroom at night to keep the air moist, which really reduces the tickle in his throat. But always check with your pediatrician or physician first.

I used to get severe coughs during season changes, but light indoor walking and deep breathing exercises really helped open my airway. Of course, only try light physical activity if your doctor says your lungs are stable enough for it.
