How to do an intervention for mental health?

My close friend has been struggling with their mental health for a long time and is refusing help. We, as friends and family, want to support them. What is the right way to do an intervention for mental health, something that's supportive and not confrontational?

When we had to talk to a close friend who was struggling, we sat down with him quietly without any anger or blame. We just told him how much we care and that we are worried about him. It was emotional, but keeping it loving instead of accusatory helped him open up.

Yes, talking with love rather than confrontation makes a big difference. Just letting them know they are not alone is a great first step.

Stress can affect a person's physical health severely, including blood sugar levels. When helping someone, make sure they are eating regular, balanced meals and not neglecting their physical healthcare while dealing with mental struggles.

A calm mind is very important before having such conversations. I always practice deep breathing or a few minutes of meditation before discussing sensitive matters with family, as it helps me listen patiently without reacting emotionally.

We tried to handle a family member's severe depression on our own, and it got much worse because we didn't understand the depth of the issue. Please don't rely only on family talks. Take them to a professional psychiatrist or clinical psychologist as soon as possible.

In our times, we sat together as a family to support whoever was feeling low. Gentle head massages with warm oil and quiet evening walks can soothe the nerves, but a family's unconditional love and presence are the ultimate healing touch.

Creating a warm, stress-free environment at home and serving comforting meals can help someone relax. However, if they are showing severe signs of withdrawal, self-harm, or deep despair, please don't wait for home remedies to work and consult a doctor immediately.

I have realized over the years that you cannot force someone to heal until they are ready. Be patient, avoid judging them, and just let them know that your doors are always open whenever they want to talk or seek professional help.
