How to diagnose rheumatic fever?

My younger cousin had a bad sore throat a few weeks ago and now has some joint pain. My mother is worried about rheumatic fever. What tests or symptoms help to diagnose this condition?

I always worry so much when anyone gets a sore throat because untreated strep can lead to rheumatic fever. Please get a rapid strep test or blood test done immediately if there is a fever and joint pain, just to be safe!

Rheumatic fever diagnosis is based on specific clinical guidelines called the Jones criteria, which look at joint pain, heart signs, and recent strep infection. It requires a doctor's examination, an ECG, and blood tests to confirm.

Staying active is great, but with rheumatic fever, complete rest is crucial to protect the heart. Let the doctor diagnose it first using blood tests and throat cultures before you think about any physical activity.

This is a serious condition that can affect the heart, so please do not take any chances. Get a physician to check the fever, joint swelling, and do the necessary blood tests right away.

I agree. A proper blood test to check for inflammatory markers and a doctor's evaluation is the only way to diagnose this.

Managing long-term health issues taught me that timely testing is everything. For rheumatic fever, a doctor needs to do throat swabs and blood tests to confirm the inflammation. Please follow up with a specialist.

My younger cousin had this after a bad throat infection. The doctor ran some blood tests and did an ECG to check his heart. Don't delay, just go see a pediatrician or physician.
