How to diagnose kidney infection?

I've been having fever, back pain, and a burning sensation while urinating. My friend said these are signs of a kidney infection. How do doctors accurately diagnose a kidney infection?

Don't get scared. If you have a high fever, back pain, or pain while passing urine, it could be a kidney infection. You need to visit a doctor immediately, and they will run a urine culture test and maybe an ultrasound to confirm.

I agree with Rohan. A urine routine and culture test is the primary way doctors diagnose this infection.

A kidney infection is not something you can treat at home with just cranberry juice. Please go to a hospital. They will do blood tests and a urine culture to find the exact bacteria and prescribe the correct antibiotics.

My doctor told me that a kidney infection (pyelonephritis) is diagnosed using a urine analysis to look for white blood cells and bacteria, followed by a culture. Sometimes they also do a blood culture if the fever is very high to ensure the infection hasn't spread.

As someone managing high blood pressure, I know how important kidney health is. If you feel any burning sensation or back pain, consult your doctor. They will check your urine and blood counts to diagnose any infection quickly.

I just recovered from this last month and the lower back pain was intense. The doctor diagnosed it through a rapid urine test in the clinic and then put me on antibiotics based on the culture report. Please see a doc soon, the pain gets bad quickly.
