How to deal with an asthma attack?

My younger brother has asthma, and sometimes he has these sudden attacks. We always have his inhaler, but what else can we do to help him during an asthma attack, especially if his breathing is really struggling? Is there anything that can help calm him down?

I once tried to tough out an asthma attack thinking it would pass, and it got really bad. Don't make that mistake! Always keep your rescue inhaler handy and use it as prescribed. If symptoms don't improve quickly, or if they worsen, get immediate medical help. Ignoring it can be very dangerous.

An asthma attack is a medical emergency. The first and most important step is to use your prescribed rescue inhaler immediately. If you or someone you know is having an attack and doesn't have an inhaler, or if the inhaler doesn't work, call for emergency medical help (108 or ambulance) without delay. Don't wait.

For asthma, it's critical to have an action plan from your doctor. During an attack, use your rescue inhaler. For long-term management, identifying and avoiding triggers is essential. Also, managing underlying conditions like high BP and stress can help reduce the frequency and severity of attacks. Regular check-ups with your pulmonologist are non-negotiable.

This topic makes me really anxious, thinking about someone struggling to breathe. Is it really true that staying calm is the most important thing? And how do you even stay calm when you can't breathe? For those who have experienced it, what's the first thing that helps you?

Use your rescue inhaler immediately, stay calm, and seek medical help if symptoms don't improve. It's vital to have an asthma action plan.

An asthma attack is serious. First, use your rescue inhaler as instructed by your doctor. It's important to remain calm. For general health, and as a diabetic, I always ensure my environment is clean to avoid triggers like dust. Eating a balanced diet and monitoring my sugars helps my overall well-being, which might indirectly support lung health, but in an attack, medication is key.
