How to cover fever blister on lip?

I woke up with a really prominent fever blister on my lip, and I have an important presentation today. It looks quite bad. What's a good way to cover a fever blister on the lip quickly?

Fever blisters usually pop up when your immune system is down due to stress or fatigue. While you are waiting for it to heal, make sure you eat vitamin C-rich foods and keep your body hydrated. Avoid sharing water bottles or towels at the gym, as these blisters are highly contagious.

If you need to step out, just apply a tiny bit of petroleum jelly or an over-the-counter cold sore cream to keep it moist and protected. Avoid touching it or trying to peel the dry skin off, as that will only make it look redder and take longer to heal. A simple medical mask is also a very practical way to cover it fully these days.

My doctor told me that fever blisters, or cold sores, are viral and trying to cover them with thick makeup can trap bacteria and delay healing. She advised using a dedicated antiviral ointment prescribed by a doctor at the first sign of tingling. If you must use makeup, apply a small hydrocolloid patch first to act as a barrier.

Please don't worry too much, these blisters are very common and usually heal on their own in a week. Just keep the area clean and apply a little ice wrapped in a cloth to soothe the swelling. It will get better soon, so try to rest well.

I get these fever blisters every winter and the best way to manage them is using a medicated lip balm with SPF. If you need to hide it for an event, put a tiny dab of liquid concealer on a cotton swab and gently pat it over the blister. Never rub the makeup on, and wash your hands immediately after.

I was just reading about this because my sister got one right before her college presentation. It seems that cold sore patches are actually quite popular now because they cover the blister and also help it heal fast. Has anyone here tried those transparent patches? Let me know if they work well!

Do not try to pop or squeeze that blister, it will spread the infection all over your mouth. If you want to cover it, just use a clean cotton bud to apply a doctor-approved healing cream. Let it dry naturally instead of stuffing it with chemical cosmetics.
