How to correctly sleep on a pillow?

I often wake up with neck and shoulder pain, and I think it might be because of how I'm sleeping on my pillow. What's the correct way to sleep on a pillow to avoid this?

Honestly, I used to stack two thick pillows and woke up with a stiff neck every single day. Now I use just one thin pillow that keeps my neck aligned with my spine. It makes a massive difference, so keep it flat and simple.

I find that sleeping on my side with a pillow between my knees really helps align my hips and lower back, especially when I have pelvic pain. I am not an expert, but finding the right support has made my sleep much more comfortable.

I used to have terrible shoulder pain until I realized my pillow was too soft and let my head sink in. Switched to a firm contour pillow that supports my neck properly, and it has been a total lifesaver. Definitely invest in a good one!

Don't build a fortress of pillows around your head like you are defending a castle! Just use one pillow that fills the gap between your neck and the mattress. Your neck will thank you in the morning, and you won't look like a robot turning its whole body!

The key is to make sure your head, neck, and spine form a straight horizontal line when you lie down. Side sleepers need a slightly thicker pillow than back sleepers to fill the shoulder gap. If you have chronic neck pain, please consult an orthopedist.

Proper sleep posture is important for overall blood circulation, which is crucial for diabetics. Your pillow should support the natural curve of your neck, not push your head forward. If you have severe neck issues, ask your physiotherapist for advice.
