How to cook liver and onions on the stove?

My wife really likes liver and onions, but we only have a stove. I want to surprise her by cooking it myself. What's the best way to cook liver and onions on the stovetop to make it tender and tasty?

I always worry if the middle of the liver is still raw on the stove, which can be risky. To be safe, I slice it really thin and cook it on a medium-low flame. Once the pinkness is totally gone, I turn off the gas immediately so it doesn't get too tough.

I know it can feel really overwhelming to cook organ meats if you didn't grow up eating them. Just take it slow. Caramelize the onions first until they are sweet, then cook the liver quickly in the same pan. It is simpler than it looks.

This is one of the best high-protein meals post-workout. I just heat a teaspoon of ghee on a pan, throw in loads of sliced onions, add liver, and stir-fry for exactly 6-7 minutes. Great amino acid profile and fits my daily macro goals easily.

Just fry the onions till they are brown, put the liver in, and don't touch it for two minutes. Then flip and cook the other side with salt and black pepper. If you cook it for more than 8 minutes on the stove, it's going to taste like a tyre.

Actually yaar, liver and onions on a simple tawa is the best thing ever. Just add some ginger-garlic paste and green chillies to the onions, cook the liver fast, and squeeze some fresh lemon on top. It tastes amazing.

Don't overcomplicate stove cooking. Use a heavy cast iron pan, get it quite hot, and sear the liver quickly with the onions. This locks in the moisture so it doesn't turn dry and chalky.
