To cook dried kidney beans fast, just wash and soak them overnight in plenty of water. Next morning, throw them in the pressure cooker for 5-6 whistles with salt and a bay leaf. It's the most realistic way to get them perfectly soft without wasting gas.
You must boil dried kidney beans thoroughly because they contain a toxin called phytohaemagglutinin, which can cause severe food poisoning if undercooked. My doctor specifically warned me to never cook them on low heat in a slow cooker from raw; they must reach a rolling boil to destroy the toxins.
If you eat undercooked kidney beans, you can get severe vomiting and diarrhea. Always ensure they are completely soft to the core before eating. If you ever experience sudden stomach cramps or vomiting after eating them, go to a clinic immediately.
I literally got sick last week because I rushed the boiling process of dried kidney beans. Now I make sure to soak them for a full 12 hours and then boil them for at least 30 minutes in the cooker. Trust me, do not cut corners on the boiling time.
I love rajma, but if I don't cook it until it's completely mashed, my stomach starts acting like a pressure cooker itself. Boil them until they split open. It takes about 6 whistles, or 10 if your cooker is as old as mine.
