How to control root canal pain?

I recently had a root canal done, and even after a few days, I'm experiencing quite a bit of pain, especially when I bite. Is there anything I can do at home to control this root canal pain until my next dentist appointment?

Be very careful about what you eat while dealing with dental issues. High sugar snacks can worsen any decay or infection, especially if you have fluctuating diabetes. Stick to plain, sugar-free warm soups until your dentist resolves it.

Saltwater gargles are a time-tested way to reduce swelling and pain in the gums before your dental appointment. Make sure the water is lukewarm and do it 3-4 times a day. It really helps keep the area clean.

I am actually scheduled for my first root canal next week and I am terrified of the pain. Is the procedure itself painful or is it just the recovery that hurts? Hope your pain gets sorted soon.

I try to avoid heavy chemical painkillers due to my hormonal sensitivities. But for severe toothache, we really can't avoid medical help. Just consult your doctor before taking any heavy pain relief tablets to be safe.

Agree with the saltwater rinse. Also, keeping an ice pack on the cheek for 10 minutes helps numb the throbbing pain temporarily.

Bro, dental pain is the absolute worst, I couldn't even study for my exams last month because of it. I just pressed a clove near the hurting tooth, which numbed it for a bit, but honestly, only the dentist could fix it.

Look, if the root canal is hurting, it means there is an infection. No clove oil is going to cure it permanently. Go to a proper dentist, get the cleaning done, and take the prescribed course of medicine. Don't delay.
