How to control gestational diabetes in third trimester?

I'm in my third trimester now, and my gestational diabetes readings have been a bit erratic. My doctor is monitoring closely, but I want to do everything I can at home. How can I better control gestational diabetes in this last trimester?

In the third trimester, you are already carrying a watermelon, and now you can't even eat regular watermelon! Just joke about it and stay strong, it's only a matter of a few weeks before you can enjoy your favorite sweets again.

You are so close to the finish line! 💖 Focus on eating small, frequent meals instead of large ones to keep your sugar stable. You got this, mama!

With office work and third-trimester fatigue, cooking complex meals is hard. I relied on simple snacks like roasted makhana, cucumbers, and boiled eggs to keep my sugar levels flat without spending hours in the kitchen.

Just like managing high BP, tracking is everything in the final months. Make sure you get regular checkups, keep an eye on your salt and sugar, and rest well to keep your blood circulation healthy.

Be very careful with 'sugar-free' sweets available in the market; they often contain hidden carbs that cause sudden spikes. It is much safer to stick to natural sources of protein and complex fibers.

My insulin resistance from PCOS made my pregnancy sugar levels hard to manage. Eating balanced meals with good fats and protein helped me, but every pregnancy is unique, so please follow your gynecologist's specific instructions.

I tried various home remedies but in the third trimester, my doctor told me that hormone levels rise rapidly, making diet alone insufficient for some. Don't hesitate to take insulin if your doctor advises it; it is completely safe for the baby.

As a vegetarian, getting enough protein to balance carbs is tricky. I relied heavily on paneer, tofu, and sprouts salad for dinner. Be careful with high-carb vegetarian foods like potatoes and white rice.

My mother advised me to drink various herbal decoctions, but I preferred to consult my gynecologist first. She adjusted my diet to include ragi and dal, which kept my sugar stable. Trust your doctor's plan above all.

The cost of daily glucose strips can add up quickly in the final months. I suggest buying the strips in bulk online to save money, as you'll need to test 3-4 times a day to keep a proper record for your doctor.

My wife's doctor explained that placenta hormones peak in the third trimester, causing sudden insulin resistance. He advised us to check fasting blood sugar daily and ensure her post-meal readings stay below 120 mg/dL for the baby's safety.

Third trimester fatigue is so real, haan na. It is very hard to walk after meals when your feet are swollen, but even a slow 10-minute stroll inside the house helps control those high post-meal readings.

I was just diagnosed with this in my 28th week and I am a bit scared. Does anyone know if we absolutely have to take insulin injections, or can it be managed purely with diet changes in the third trimester?

I went through this recently and found that replacing white rice with broken wheat (dalia) made a huge difference. Hang in there, you are almost at the end of this journey and it will all be worth it!

Having methi water in the morning can help keep things stable naturally. However, if you feel dizzy, have less baby movement, or sudden severe swelling, please go to the hospital immediately without waiting.
